Make technical material easier to review.

Large exports, scattered files, and inconsistent date formats can make relevant information difficult to follow. Evidence organization brings those materials into a reviewable structure while retaining references to the supplied sources.

Custody Forensics works with counsel to define the questions, date ranges, and deliverable format. Depending on scope, the work may include an indexed record set, a timeline, field explanations, and a written technical summary.

Built for careful review

  • Source identifiers and references alongside relevant observations.
  • Methods and transformations explained in plain language.
  • Timestamp conventions and unresolved discrepancies noted.
  • Observed facts distinguished from interpretations and open questions.

Example: a finding with a visible source.

FICTIONAL DEMONSTRATION · The records below are invented to illustrate presentation. They are not client data or results from a real examination.

SOURCE / DEMO-01

Supplied export

A fictional application export contains record R-104 and attachment A-12.

OBSERVATION / F-01

A recorded relationship

Record R-104 references attachment A-12. The supplied timestamp reads 2026-01-15 14:30.

LIMITATION / L-01

Context still needed

The demonstration source does not identify a timezone or establish who operated the account.

This structure lets the reviewer distinguish what a record contains from what additional evidence would be needed to interpret it.

Reporting questions

What does a digital forensics report include?

A useful report describes scope, sources, methods, findings, and limitations. The exact contents depend on the engagement and the available evidence; record references help make findings reviewable.

Can you organize records already collected by someone else?

Yes, subject to a source and scope assessment. The report should identify what was supplied and distinguish review of those materials from any collection performed by Custody Forensics.

Can timelines resolve every inconsistency?

No. Timezones, application behavior, incomplete sources, and uncertain timestamps may leave gaps. Those uncertainties should remain visible in the timeline and explanation.
